A tool to make a DVD-Video compliant DVD from a .mkv (matroska) file?

Is there any such tool (free of charge would be the ideal) for Linux or, as a last resource, for Windows?

I came across this link:
http://dvdmaker.co/mkv_to_dvd.html
Do you think it is worthwhile?

The link for the x264 sources in slackbuilds doesn't seem to work (http://slackbuilds.org/repository/14.0/multimedia/x264/). Any known workaround?

mencoder, which comes as part of the mplayer package, should be able to do this; I haven't done it myself, though.

Get the source file from elsewhere. This Russian mirror seems to be up. http://www.mmnt.net/db/0/102/sower.y...264/snapshots/

Alright. I have now devede up and running. One question: may I tell him not to burn the disk but to write the VIDEO_TS files to disk?

Hummm... I gave it the matroska file and when clicking the Preview button it said: "Conversion failed. It seems a bug of Mencoder".

And why can't the input file be directly converted to DVD-Video instead of converting to mpg and then to DVD-Video?
