A question about kernel upgrade...
I did a clean install of Slackware64 14.1 off dvd media. This came with kernel 3.10.17-x86_64.
I am running a i7-4770 processor and slackware64 8 cores or 8 penguins on boot. I setup a mirror in /etc/slackpkg/mirrors for the slackware-current repo.
I ran a slackpkg upgrade-all, which upgraded me to 3.10.30-x86_64. My computer has EFI so I copied the new vmlinuz-huge-3.10.30 over /boot/efi/EFI/Slackware/vmlinuz. I rebooted and I saw the new kernel 3.10.30-x86_64. However, when it boots it only shows 4 cores or 4 penguins on boot.
I'm trying to figure out why this kernel would only recognize 4 cores instead of 8. It's an SMP kernel. Have any of you guys encountered this?
