A little help upgrading php on slack 9.1
I'm looking for a little help guys, on my webserver, which is still running slack 9.1 I have:
apache 1.3.28
php 4.3.3
However I wish to use wordpress and this needs php 5.2.4
My current setup was stock from the slackware installation if I mid correctly, as in I would not have compiled from source either apache or php.
So, what are my options?
I've already tried to compile from source and get the following from:
./configure --with-mysql --with-apxs=/www/bin/apxs
checking for grep that handles long lines and -e... /usr/bin/grep
checking for egrep... /usr/bin/grep -E
checking for a sed that does not truncate output... /usr/bin/sed
checking build system type... i686-pc-linux-gnu
checking host system type... i686-pc-linux-gnu
checking target system type... i686-pc-linux-gnu
checking for cc... cc
checking whether the C compiler works... no
configure: error: in `/root/php-5.4.0':
configure: error: C compiler cannot create executables
See `config.log' for more details.
I'm thinking I need a newer version of C to compile this, any thoughts?
I've compiled things on this old box a million times, where am I going wrong or is there indeed a better/easier way to move forward here?
Thanks in advance...
