a Dell printer in Slackware?

Hiya folks! After a long hiatus from Slack, I'm installing 10.2 on my system and am wondering if anyone's had any luck with Dell inkjet-type printers.
I've googled and searched the forums to no avail. I have a Dell 944 All-In-One Photo Printer. I've heard that alot of Dell printers are actually "rebrands", such as being originally an HP printer.

If none of the drivers that come with Slackware work, do I have any other options? All I'm really wanting is color printing and scanning capabilites.

Thanks for your help!

Our Linux HCL doesn't have a Dell category, but there a couple which show up in Other.

How is it connected? If USB, issue "/sbin/lsusb" and post what it says for the printer.

I'll warn you in advance that I don't know, but I have an idea...

Is Dell still selling rebranded versions of Lexmark printers? If that's right, Lexmark's all-in-ones aren't very well supported. Lexmark has their own Linux printer drivers though... you might give that a shot.

I have no experience with Dell printers, but I can tell you that LinuxPrinting.org is an excellent resource for getting printers working.

If it is as jimX86 suggested a rebranded Lexmark I found this webpage invaluable in setting up my Lexmark usb printer. If you reckon you need the z600 driver I have a Slackware package that I can send to you that should just require an installpkg to get the driver set up correctly and will just require setting up the printer in cups using localhost:631 or something similar.
Good luck.
