99 99 99?!?


Hey All!, i recently tried installing slackware 10, i installed packages on disc1, and 2, it didnt ask for the other 2 , anyway, after i install it, i boot up, and all it shows on the screen is:

99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99
99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99
99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99
99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99

..and so on, anyone know how to help??

Reinstall

If that doesn't work, you got some buggy hardware.

It's a problem with LILO. Use your second CD to boot your system and check out /etc/lilo.conf. You probably just need to edit that and run /sbin/lilo to fix everything. Should be faster than re-installing.

Cds 3 and 4 contain only sources and aren't used during installation, they're just in case you want to recompile some program that comes with Slackware (This is not true for the kernel source which is installed by default and it's on cd 1).

b4 anything -- just boot ur Slack cd once & at the rompt Try == fdisk /mbr

I have tried this manytimes -- Its not harware prob -- its a Common Prob of Corrupt Master Boot Record(MBR)
Just rewrite it using Fdisk /mbr
