9.0 and 9.1 and IBM xSeries
I am currently trying to install Slackware 9.1 onto an
IBM xSeries 340 box. The hard drive is on an Adaptec 78xx adapter and the floppy/CDROM are plugged into the on board IDE which is a ServerWorks chipset. The CDROM boots fine and i can boot with either the adaptec.s or xfs.s kernels and see my SCSI devices, but when i get to the "SOURCE" portion of the Slackware setup, my CDROM device (/dev/hda) is not recognized. This happens even if i boot up with bare.i. I have tried manually mounting the disk, passing hda=cdrom at boot time and few other tricks but nothing seems to work. Anyone got any clues? |
Same problem
Hi, there's another thread about this problem (IBM xSeries 335/345 support) that you might want to look at. The bottom line: with Slackware 9.0 things are pretty tough, almost impossible. With 9.1 version test is still being done to solve issues with the IDE CDROM not being recognized for your source location.
Gud luck! |
