3D acceleration and higher resolution

How can I get higher resolutions than 1024x768 and how can I get 3D acceleration? KDE doesn't show that there would be higher resolutions than 1024x768.

what graphics card do you have? what kindof monitor do you have?

you'll have to probably have to dl and compile and load somedrivers into your xserver

go the the nvidia page, the drivers for linux are there. there are instructions on installing nvidia all over this board, particularly the pinned topics. also look in your xorg.conf to change the available resolutions. Make sure you have the drivers working first.

Yeah, its a good idea to install the nvidia drivers, but i think he cant increase his screen size past 1024x768 because of the vanilla xorg.conf that the installer creates.

I had this same problem after i installed, and i found it's because of the max horizontal refresh rate setting in the xorg.conf

to change this, open /etc/X11/xorg.conf in your favorite editor. (you'll need to be root )

under Section "Monitor"
change
HorizSync 31.5 - 50
to:
HorizSync 31.5 - 64.3

save, resart x, and enjoy.
