2.6.6 starts with unusable graphical mode
I have just compiled 2.6.6 without errors. When I boot it it switches to a graphical mode and the result is some green vertical lines and some red dots and nothing other can be seen. I can't do anything with it. Can I specify different mode. It always overrides the "vga=" command parameter so this doesn't help. Can you help me?

Have a look at /etc/lilo.conf and see what the vga= is set to. Slackware includes a nice little table of commented out pre-defined vga modes. Try some of those.
Also, what framebuffer driver did you compile into the kernel/ I normally recommend the standard VESA framebuffer rather than a specific console driver, (ie radeon or trident...) --Shade |
Im using the generic VESA framebuffer. The text modes donīt work but vga=791(1024x768) worked perfect and now Iīm happy with my new kernel. Thanks for help!
