2.6.11 source in current and Module.symvers

Is the kernel source for 2.6.11 in -current/testing just generic kernel source to which I would have to apply patches to bring it up to date? I haven't come across anything to indicate the patch level

Also, what is the file Module.symvers in the source root directory used for?
