My 2.6.10 kernel compile (I followed the directions on http://www.digitalhermit.com/linux/K....html#BUILDING )
seems to be working pefectly and quickly except for two problems I have. First of all, the console screen has been miniaturized (480x640 I think) on my big screen, and I would like to fix this so that it is back at its previous 1024x768 ratio. I also have a question about firmware, mainly about how to load/compile it for my drivers, because I seem to have forgotten how to load/comile it. Thanks!
but BE SURE that your kernel is configured to have support for framebuffer consoles!!
otherwise you'll get a black screen at the time of loading the modules at boot..
that happened to me the first time I ever compiled a kernel on my own, I was stuck with a black screen and thought I had done something seriuosly wrong, but a few minutes searching on google sorted my problem.
