14.0 does not behave like 12.0 with respect to java.
Hi: in chessgames.com I always could follow the game of the day with slackware 12.0. Now with 14.0 I can't. A member there says I must update java. What is the difference with 12.0 in this respect or how do I update java?

First, in 14.0 the java was removed from the distribution. So you need to manually install the java plugin. Search the web for Slackware java plugin installation instructions.
|
Keep in mind that due to a serious security hole it is not recommended at this time to activate Java in your browser.
Other than that, you can either use the Slackbuild script in /extra to build a Java package, or you just download the OpenJDK and icedtea packages from AlienBob. |

I already was at the slackware wiki and read the notice about java having been discontinuated. I'm following the instructions. Slackware 14.0 (I had 12.0) is becoming a real headache for me! I debuted with ridicoulus tiny fonts in the console screen. And from there on, inconvenience after inconvenience. And I did it because so many people here advised me go to 14.0! Damn world ever changing faster and faster. The change for the change.
