12.2 doesn't like my sony walkman

I had been able to mount my sony walkman mp3 players in slakware 12.1... they politely mount on the desktop without complaining. On a new box with 12.2, they don't mount. I'm not at the linux box right now, but /var/log/messages complains about trying to read past the end of the device.

The mp3 players in question are a NWZ-S638F and and NWZ-S616F. I also tried a NWZ-E436F, it does mount properly. Has anyone else had this and come up with a workaround? I'm sure its just a minor problem that could be easily fixed by adjusting a udev rule, but what I know about that would fit in your eye...

TIA

Did you make sure to add yourself to the right groups at least plugdev so that HAL will let you mount things.

I think it might be a problem with the FAT filesystem on it. Maybe get whatever you have on there off, and reformat the filesystem somehow.
