12.2 and nvidia quadro NVS 140M beta driver SOLVED
Hi, I just installed 12.2 on my new Thinkpad R61 and
the laptop has the Nvidia quadro NVS 140M graphics. The Nvidia website will only let me use their beta driver for this and I get the message below when I install it. I've never had this particular card before and never had a problem with other nvidia driver installs. I just typed out this error below and it's like rocket science to me :-) Please can anyone help in simple language for a simple person I just wiped vista from the laptop and got wireless working nicely so I'm proud of myself so far.... Code:
Error: if you are using a linux 2.6 kernel please make sure you have configured kernel services matching your kernel installed on your system. If you specified a separate output directory using either the "KBUILD_OUTPUT or the "O" kbuild parameter, make sure to specify this directory with the SYSOUT environment variable or with the equivalent nvidia-installer command line option. |
Do have the kernel-source package installed.
You need this package to complete the installation of the nvidia beta driver. You can grab this package here http://slackware.osuosl.org/slackwar...p-noarch-1.tgz |

Thanks a lot but yes, I'd already googled that and installed the kernel-sources and rebooted [just in case] then tried to install the Nvidia driver again in init 3 but got the same error as in my previous post. Any more ideas will be welcome Thanks again Regards |
RE: 12.2 and nvidia quadro NVS 140M beta driver SOLVED
The Nvidia quadro NVS 140M would not work on my Thinkpad R61 but I got the 180.22 driver and it installed perfectly and I got the Nvidia logo on boot.
It works pefectly Cheers |
