11 crashed, rebooted then no keyboard to enter root pass

hi all,

have a slack 11 boxen with ext3 hard drive.

using a usb keyboard.

the pc took a dive on me, so i had to hit reset.

the pc rebooted, linux mounted the partition as ext2 and not ext3; it found errors, asked me to enter the root password to do maintenance, however the keyboard was not working.

i hit reset key again on pc (yuk) and same thing.

then i realized that my udev and hotplug are kicking in after linux wants to e2fsck the drive.

can i change that sequence?

I had to go get a ps/2 keyboard and use that to enter root pass to do maintenance.

thank you.

I would suggest that you don't change the sequence e2fsck - udev

Did you execute the fs check after logging in. Are there still errors after rebooting ? Can you post the log ?

I agree with gegechris99, don't change any sequences. If it were me I would just grin and bear it. I keep a ps/2 keyboad nearby just for such ocurrances.

OK I'll keep a ps/2 keyboard handy then thank you gent's.

regarding a log file, well, I was able to e2fsck the drive, and told it to autofix, and it pulled a windows move on me and fixed a lot of stuff, rebooted and then I could not get into slackware at all.

so I dumped the partition and reloaded but I'm back up now. fortunately no crashes yet.
