1080p codec

Is there a way to play 1080p in xine with a codec or do I need to download a different player?

Never heard of this codec, but if it exists, you may be able to play it with xine of mplayer if you install the codec.

That’s because it doesn’t exist. 1080p is a video mode, commonly borrowed from the way HDTV scanlines are measured (1080 is the vertical resolution, 1920 is usually the horizontal resolution, and p = progressive means non-interlaced video). There are multiple codecs which will support such a resolution, so I think the OP needs to be a little more clear:

What have you tried so far? Do you have the mplayer suite installed? If so, what is the output of “midentify filename” (where filename is the name of the video file in question)?
