[SOLVED] xemacs on slackware

Anybody use xemacs with slackware?
If so, how did you build or install it?
I've used it in the past with other distros.
I briefly tried emacs but because I was used to xemacs, gave up on it.

Thanks.

Hi,

This is what I have done in the past and seems to work for
me. I have *not* built it on Slackware 64 bit. Instructions
are old, but you should be able to figure it out
(you may want newer versions):

1 -- get xemacs-21.4.21.tar.bz2 and unpack
2 -- get xemacs-sumo-2007-04-27.tar.bz2 (do not unpack)
3 -- cd to emacs sub dir after (1)
./configure --site-includes=/usr/local/include --site-libraries=/usr/local/lib
make
as root
make install
4 -- once done do:
as root
cd /usr/local/lib/xemacs
tar xfvj xemacs-sumo-2007-04-27.tar.bz2

Above assumes you install to /usr/local, xemacs site
has a build how-to, but it seems complex to me
Thus the response.

HTH
Jack

Thank-you!!
I'll give that a try and let you know.

Ok, followed your instructions and xemacs is working fine so far.
Thanks jmccue, for your help. Yes, I didn't care for the online instructions for installation
