[FYI] Slack 14 and USB boot problems with Acer Aspire One netbook
Just a heads up that the new USB boot image in Slackware 14 doesn't work with this netbook, specifically model A110L. The first issue is that the keyboard is unresponsive at the boot menu (a problem with Syslinux?). I changed the Syslinux configuration file to boot the hugesmp kernel on startup to work around this issue. The second problem is that it hangs after loading initrd.img. I didn't bother to troubleshoot the issue further, so I rolled back to using the USB boot image from Slackware 13.37, which works fine with this netbook. Other than this one problem, the reset of the installation went without a hitch.
If anyone has similar hardware or problems, this is just an FYI to get around the issue.
I have an Acer Aspire One as well- I'm pretty sure you can get around the hanging issues by setting "Network boot" FIRST in the boot order.
This worked on my 722, perhaps yours is different, but worth a try.
