I'm not exactly sure what you mean by I don't want to install the whole office. But you can install OpenOffice from a slackbuild. Or if you just want to install OO Presentation (I think that's what it's called), I believe you can download and install from source from openoffice.org (be prepared to wait a long time).

*After doing some research, I'm not sure if it is possible to just install one component of OO.

You have a few choices here, but they range from poor to not-so-great.

Option 1 : Install OpenOffice and hope that it reads PowerPoint slides. My understanding is that there is some support but it varies, especially depending on how complex the slides are.

Option 2 : Install VirtualBox, then Windows something (xp,vista,7) and finally Office. This will give an exact and perfect viewing of you pps files, but you must have licensed products of above.

Option 3 : Download 'PowerPointViewer.exe' from MicroSoft and try to run it under Wine. This is a freely available product with licensing costs. As it doesn't actually modify the pps, but just display it, there's a good chance it might work.

Well so perhaps the best way is to install the whole OO (OpenOffice) as you said.
I'll be obliged to use it
To use it if I'm lucky sometimes for pps or doc or excel files I receive in my mail.

I still have many persons in my relations that use these type of files.
The solution of VirtualBox is also attractive, cause I can then install Microsoft office in an XP operating system inside VirtualBox, and open these files in there native format.

But the wine solution in my opinion is the worst cause so many times I couldn't finalyse installation of some programs, or run them without any error.

Thank you for your research lewisforlife, I appreciate the time you accorded to this thread.
