Yes. It's another sidebutton post

MS intellimouse. Seven buttons.

LFS 4.0 KDE 3.1 Mozilla 1.3

Left and right buttons scroll up page; don't go back and forth.

=======================
Identifier "Mouse1"
Driver "mouse"
Option "Protocol" "ExplorerPS/2"
Option "Device" "/dev/mouse"
Option "Buttons" "7"
Option "ZAxisMapping" "6 7"
=======================

I have :
================
xmodmap -e "pointer = 1 2 3 6 7 4 5"
================
in kde autostart and also xinitrc.

imwheel is installed and starts at boot with .imwheelrc in the home dir:
=================
None, Up, Alt_L|Left
None, Down, Alt_L|Right
=================

Mozilla 1.3 is supposed to suoprt the side buttons. perhaps it is messing with the config?

Sorry for the repeated post, but I've spent two and a half hours pointlessly clicking.

Welcome to LQ Melton,
Is the mouse USB or PS/2?, and post the output of "ls -al /dev/mouse".

[Edit: It's a good idea to add your distribution to your profile, it makes it easier to home in on the problem.]

Try the following imwheelrc,
Code:
".*"
 None, Up, Alt_L|Left
 None, Down, Alt_L|Right

I'm also having that problem. I figured out how to properly use the sidebuttons a couple weeks ago by reading past posts in LQ and it *was* working great. Yesterday, however, I upgraded to Mozilla 1.3, and now the sidebuttons do page up. I should point out that the side buttons go back and forward in every other web browser I've tried (Netscape, Opera, Konquerer) but not Mozilla 1.3

/etc/X11/XF86Config

Identifier "Mouse1"
Driver "mouse"
Option "Protocol" "ExplorerPS/2"
Option "Device" "/dev/mouse"
Option "Buttons" "7"
Option "ZAxisMapping" "6 7"

in .xinintrc

#!/bin/sh
xmodmap -e "pointer = 1 2 3 6 7 4 5"
imwheel -k -b "67"

and in .imwheelrc

".*"
None, Up, Alt_L|Left
None, Down, Alt_L|Right

I'm using Slackware 8.1 with Gnome.

Thanks for all the help so far, hope someone has an idea of what I'm doing wrong

I'm having the same problem, only I never even got the scroll wheel to work. I'm using Slackware 8.1 with GNOME. My configuration files look just like spindley's, but not even the scroller works. I'm using a PS/2 Microsoft IntelliMouse, but it's the optical version. could that be the problem? any help would really be appreciated.

I have a similar problem : I use the side buttons to copy/paste, and it works everywhere but not in Mozilla :-(

Mandrake 9.1
imwheel 1.0.0pre4
Mozilla 1.3
