No Volume Control in GNOME

I just installed XORG and GNOME from testing repo as follow:

apt-get install xserver-xorg xserver-common xfonts-base

and then

apt-get install gnome-core gdm

Everything works fine on booting except that every time I log into the system(GNOME) , I get the following error message "No Volume Control Elements and/or devices found". I can;t see the volume icon on the top right hand side of the screen. My sound drivers and everything is loaded properly.

Did I missed any package in GNOME during installing like gnome-sound ?

How can I eliminate that error message?

Thanks

In the top panel, right click, choose Add to Panel, once open you should be able to find the volume control icon.

It probably will look different than the old one.

Thanks for looking into this biut I am not much bothered about the volume icon, I want to get rid of that error message. It seems that there are quite a few websites where user has the same problem but none of the site has solution. googled out the error message and you will see what I am saying.

Any idea? Any one?

So removing the panel and adding a new panel stopped that message from appearing? Hmm, amazing.

Good you got it fixed.

Yes that's right. The original panel tries to load some gstreamer plugin and something like that.

Works like a charm.
