hmm, have you tried viewing that DVD on a dvd player or something else?, it could be the dvd is damaged. However, try downloading Ogle and try using that to view the DVD. It's a very nice dvd player.

here's the site for Ogle:
http://digilander.libero.it/winehqitalia/dvd.html
and you said you have the right link for /dev/dvd right?

ok, let us know, how it goes.

use rpm2tgz to convert rpm's.

Also, when you compile Mplayer, did you use Mplayer's dvdmpkit or not? You might want to if you didn't. I haven't come across a DVD yet that I couldn't play, and I didn't install any external packages (AFAI can remember) that aren't available on the Mplayer homepage. What's the command you are using to play em?

Cool

I'm not sure what to do...I think the problem is the Video??, but how do I fix that?,

wow, I tried this line, check it out chad

mplayer -vo x11 vts_02_1.vob

and then a Window came up and it started playing the DVD, a Tool music video.
However...how can I make it full screen?, also...like....the sound sounds very low...very very low...dunno why. I have to bring the volume half the way up in my Receiver...for my surround sound.

Video Quality looks very, very good, however!

zlinunxz, surely you've been around long enough to be able to be rtfm'd just a teeny tiiny little bit? either way, you want the -zoom option on x11. you might prefer video output via SDL if you've got that set up.

Henry - is this error instant or does the dvd drive fart around for a bit? i can tell you it's not a problem with divx4linux (no idea why it ever could be) or libdvdcss (not used at that stage). you might want to have a go using one of my little apps, lsdvd at http://acidrip.sourceforge.net/lsdvd.html this uses libdvdread in the same way they do, but it's tiny and easier fo you to chaneg a couple of options. the most likely though is an incorrect symlinjk. or maybe you'ev got scsi emulation on it? i don't know how that might affect things.
