Angry Damn this is frustrating - Ubuntu server

I have been trying to fix up my web server that runs Ubuntu. I am not planning to change distributions. I have tried numerous combinations of Apache, MYSQL and PHP and none of them seem to work. I usually get errors like
Quote:
The PHP configuration on your server doesn't support the database type that you chose
which i have tracked down to be caused by PHP package not having support for MYSQL.

I have tried combos of Apache 1.3, Apache 2, PHP 3, PHP4, MYSQL, PHP3-MYSQL, PHP4-MYSQL.

What is a list of packages/commands i need to get from APT-GET to get this server working?

Or what packages did you do use successfully to get a server working?

Thanks In Advance.

Wayne

You'll probably want to look at the following packages;
- php4
- php4-mysql
- libapache-mod-php

You may also want to look into lib-php4-common and apache-common. It's up to you to decide if you want all the modules/components that come with these two. If you have a specific application to support, you should probably just get the parts you need.

If you're doing everything from a console, then you may want to use a tool like aptitude which will allow you to search for packages.

Just go to wiki.ubuntu.com and follow the instructions there!

Search for "php mysql apache". They have a short tutorial on how to configure these things together.
