lilo read keytable checksum error

Ok just booted up from slackware to recieve this.. "lilo read keytable checksum error" also what is the specific command to type in to shut down properly in the Bash shell

About the lilo error, when did you start to get it?

yesterday, I mean I installed slackware was pretty happy logged out of X but I didn't know how to shut down in bash so I just turned it off how stupid of me as now when I boot up I get lilo read "keytable checksum error" thats it i triedusing a linux boot disk for help bit it replaces the MBR its not really what I want all I want is lilo back to normal

You can boot with the CD 1 of Slackware, mount your harddisk, chroot to it, run liloconfig and install it to the MBR, that will hopefully reinstall a working copy of LILO.
To do that issue the following commands:

mount /dev/hdXX /mnt
chroot /mnt
liloconfig

Replace hdXX with the device where Slackware is.

Also, probably your filesystem may got corrupted so before this commands, do: fsck /dev/hdXX

argh!!!
i could boot the 1st time using the slackware DVD then now as I try to to do the instructions you gave me I can't as I'm restricted so I logon the cd root@slackware then I try to mnt/dev/hda but it can't find it argh....!!! its on hda I know that
