We're currently having a problem with the search server. I'm working to resolve this ASAP. Thanks for the bug report.

I originally posted something here for another post. Sorry! Had too many tabs open on LinuxQuestions. Heh.

I just tried searching for some stuff. Everything I've searched for has come back with nothing found and please use different terms.

I searched in the slackware forum on 'root permission cdrom', 'cdrom xmms', and then just 'xmms'.

Surely 'xmms' is located somewhere in the slackware forum?

So, I assume that searching is not quite back up yet, eh?

I show xmms was the last searched item with 601 results just a few minutes ago but now the search seems to be hanging, perhaps it is experiencing problems once again.

I just searched for "xmms install" in the Slackware forum and it came back with 23 results. http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...der=descending

'cdrom xmms' gives 25 results. May have been a temporary blip....?

I just tried again and it's working again. Jeremy was probably feverishly working on a fix while we were posting.

Earlier, I was getting "Sorry - no matches. Please try some different terms." on everything I searched for, and it took a long time to get there each time.

Not here.. I even made my search only go back to yesterday on an xmms search in the Slackware forum.. still spinning and spinning.. been over a minute or two now..

Luckily I'm the smartest man alive and never have to search for my answers..

Can't win if you don't play.. I got better chances using that dollar to buy some food and surviving than that bazillionth chance of winning the lotto..

My luck.. I'd win and only get struck dead with lightening the next day.. then no one gets the money..

The search server still does get overloaded from time to time - it's a known issue and is something we are working on.

hey - an idea:

isn't there some javascript thingy that pops up a window (saying: this search probably is general. It might overload the search server. Do you want to continue? *y/n* ) when the text entered in the search is less than 5 characters, say.

people might consider refining their search before continuing.
