For gurus, setting ARG_MAX value

And the question is

When I do an ls –l on a large directory , I am getting the following error,

$ ls –l *
ksh: ls: Argument list too long

And I found the culprit is ARG_MAX setting and is set to a very low limit.
$ getconf ARG_MAX
131072

How can I set it to a larger value other than rebuilding kernel

Thanks
Raees

hi there,

your answer is here
attention. your system can become slower after changing that. these are system parameters that are somehow connected with memory allocation and these stuff.
