Kazaa Substitute

Is there a Kazaa substitute for Linux?

I tried limewire, gtk-gnutella, none of them is as good as the window p2p clients(kazza, imesh..etc).

As long as that is believed (and is true probably) then people won't use the gnutella clients, but if more people used the clients, there would be more options/files for gnutella users to d/l. It's shooting yourself in the foot to not use it, because then you are contributing to the lowered use of the network. See the circle this is going in?

There is a Kazaa client for Linux, you can get it by searcing google. It is made by Kazaa and it's in very early alpha stage, in other words buggy and untested but i read a review that said it works (when its not crashing that is...)

I cannot find Kazaa 4 Linux ANYWHERE!!! I ran into about 20 dead links to Kazaa saying that the web page doesn't exist. So either they change the link every 3 days or they discontinued it. So if anyone just happens to have the link or file handy, please post either and e-mail address or URL, thanks in advance!

There's both the kazaa lite that is said to work with wine or wineX and the linux version, ending with tar.gz

try gtk-gnutella. not too shabby...

the kazaa client for linux wont work anymore because kazaa now encrypts their network. the old client still tries to use the network unencrypted.

both kazaa lite versions (find mirrors at www.kazaalite.com) function quite well under wine. The gui is a little slow, and the icons display a little funny, but they both upload and download great.

Isn't Kazaa fluffing spyware. Why the fluff would you want fluffing spyware. I heard they sell the use of your CPU.

At the very least it is a proprietary network, I thought the point of Peer to Peer was the freedom aspect. Or are you just interested in getting your warez.

You can run IE under wine too if you like

I've never used Kazaa, but I've had pretty good luck with limewire and gtk-gnutella. Another option is gnapster. I use it to connect to OpenNAP servers.

You can try mldonkey for the edonkey network.If you are more adventurous give gift or direct connect a spin.All at sourceforge.

I thought the point of a peer to peer network was sharing files. In which case Kazaa wins hands down. Kazaa lite is kazaa with the spyware removed, so no need to worry about that. Mldonkey is also a great peer to peer program, but is geared mainly for larger files like ISOs and films. Kazaalite is better for smaller files like music and movie clips.

You can try the linux version of Direct Connect,it works very well for me.
