Autorun CD

Hi Friends,

I have one GUI for printer installation. I want to run it from CD automatically.

I have done it using autorun script on GNOME and working fine. When I googled on net, I found that there is one demon called magicdev under GNOME and that is responsible for this.

But my question is that is there any way to make it on all Desktop environment and distributions ?

Presently autorun feature works on GNOME desktops on Redhat distributions only.

I've done it with WindowMaker though. Just add 'magicdev' line in the start script in GNUStep folder (look for the location of magicdev with 'which magicdev'.). And I use 'nautilus --no-desktop' for file browsing.

I din't get u and I am not able to find GNUstep folder.

My intention is to make the autorun CD for all distributions with one autorun script.

Most distributions don't have autorun capability enabled.

Can you tell me what is the generel procedure to enable the autorun feature ?

I have never bothered much with that -- it is generally considered not very good to do from a security standpoint. I would guess you are going in the right direction with magicdev, though ways of implimenting it probably varies between desktop enviroments and distributions.
