I am not familiar with the product myself, but a QT problem could be that the package requires QT 2. Slack 8.1 is based on QT 3. It is possible as I understand it to have both QT2 and QT3 on the same system in two different directories. You will probably have to download QT2 and setup the install manually for a different directory. If you have the Slack 8.0 Source CD you could try the QT2 source files there.

I ran into the same problem myself. You might get it to work fetching
some old QT libary.
However I decided to test out the current version of Everybuddy
(support AIM, ICQ, MSN aswell) worked fine, but dont think about
getting the old stable version running.

I had the same problem. just download qt 2.3.whatever and it should all work. but on this topic, once i got this to work, whenever i try to connect to a server in licq, it tells me it cant connect and that the server field is empty. i check in options, and sure enough, there is nothing in the part where it has servers listed.

this is with licq 1.0.4, im going to try cvs now to see if its different but any help would be great!

I've got licq working from cvs on 8.1, don't forget the cvs part, if it won't compile today then it might tomorrow.
And for those who like this sort of thing sms is working on my install.

Also, licq 1.0.4 can't send message (not even send thru server), so you better grab the most current (development stage) version. I did and I have no problem install, and so far it's all good.

Edit ./licq/licq.conf and change the Plugin1 line to Plugin1 = kde-gui
