Is MandrakeMove good? I mean is it the same as MandrakeLinux? It looks like only 1 CD in size, but will it be a worth downloading? I have Knoppix and if Mandrake is also derived from that same architecture I dont want to get it.Is it different to knoppix? Any suggestions are welcome.Thanks.
Knoppix is a Debian based system. MandrakeMove is based on ..... Mandrake I believe MandrakeMove (the pid for version) allows you to save settings to a USB key, which means that carrying it and the CD around means you will have the same settings and your data.

MandrakeMove is not based on Debian as Knoppix is. MandrakeMove is a very good LiveCD distro. Unlike Knoppix, you cannot install the OS from the LiveCD to your hard drive which is why it's only 1 disc. I haven't tried the new MandrakeMove 2 so I can't comment on it, but the first one was very good to get your hands dirty with Linux without touching your hard drive. Oh yeah, you can save your settings to a USB key so you don't always have to setup from scratch.
So Mandrakemove can only be used as a LiveCD?
It would have been better if it had both options. But anyway Mandrake 10 seems to be 3 CDs in size and I want it be used only as an install to my HD.So out of those 3 CDs which one to download? Or is it mandatory to download all 3 ?
You have to get all 3 cd`s i believe. I don`t think you would get away with a minimum install with just the first one. In any case it would be much wiser to get all 3. And i thought Mandy 10 official was 4 cd`s. I know the powerpack has 6.

It is better to get all 3 and there is a 4th disc, but you have to be a Mandrakeclub member to get it. It has commercial software on it that couldn't be distro'd for free with the rest. Stuff like Acrobat Reader and Netscape that you don't necessarily need but are sometimes nice. Mandrake 10 is very nice, I had it for a while and just recently switched to SuSE 9.1
