Start program

Hello
How can i start a program after i logged using my username?
I searched the net, but i only could find things about starting at boot.
So can somebody tell me howto do it?

Just type in the name of the program at the console prompt. If you want to start, say, kate, you'd type kate and press return (although you'll probably find it more comfortable to start it from KDE start menu).

Sorry that i whas unclear, but what i meant is:
Automaticly start an program after i logged in on x(in my case kAlarm).

In your home directory, there should be a directory .kde/Autostart/. Place
a shell script which starts the desired process in there.

P/S Didn't know this one by heart, but it's been answered here before.
I used the search engine ("KDE autostart") to come up with the answer.

If you are using debian, you could also configure a startup script to run those programs. (Although I'm not sure if it gets executed before or after X loads).

In (almost) all Linux flavors except Debian, there is a file called ~/.xsession which is executed every time you log in. On Debian, that file is called ~/.xinitrc .

As an example a common way to start an app in KDE:

ln -s /usr/bin/kspread /home/your_username/.kde/Autostart

Just replace for yours etc.
