using and mounting keychain memory

I have a nifty little LexarMedia 128MB JumpDrive Secure that I'd like to use with Debian, how do I go about doing that?

Make a directory for it

mkdir /mnt/sda1

Plug it in and mount it:

mount /dev/sda1 /mnt/sda1

Your files will be in /mnt/sda1. When you are done, unmount the drive:

umount /dev/sda1

Note that is "umount" not "unmount"

Another approach is here: http://www.desktop-linux.net/usbflashdrive.htm that gives a script for mounting/umounting the drive.

There are some drives that have weird partition structures that give linux a problem. If that is the case with yours, you will have to re-partition it and format it as vfat. Some information about that issue is here: http://forum.libranet.com/viewtopic....ht=flash+drive

Okay, I upgraded to sarge and now my JumpDrive works like a dream. Sarge will automatically find the device and I can mout it to /mnt/sda1 as root, is there a way to mount it as another user?

Make sure the entry in /etc/fstab includes the "user" parameter in order to allow non-root users to mount the volume.
