cannot mount cdrom

I have a cdwriter/dvd combo in my computer
I try to mount it and I receive this message
" could not mount device, mount: not a directory"
I use mandrake 8.1

what kind of cd are you trying to mount? if it's an audio or video cd, then it doesn't need to be mounted. if it's a data cd, then you mount it.

Did you use the mount command or did you click on an icon? If you used the mount command, what was did you type in?
