Linux World Users Map

what do you think about creating a Maps using maps.google API showing the location and availability for support installing and record linux cd's?

there is also http://www.flippinsweetdude.com/maps/index.php

but I'm thinking bigger not only for Ubuntu but for all flavors of Linux users... each one could have their distro icon but important think is to easily know where we are and if we have a neighbor that uses Linux and possibly have personal help

You could also use the LQ Frappr Map to show your name.

Useless, I think.
Check out that ubuntu map. It's slow to navigate, and doesn't really add up to anything. For example, there are just a handful of ticks in a huge city like London. I think support via internet is the day's word anyway.

This kind of things work with small communities, but try to rally general linux users to this..

Sorry for being so pessimistic ;-)

talking of being pessimistic, imagine you don't even have internet configured on your desktop... having someone available experienced in Linux near you would be fantastic wouldn't it?

all in favor

I don't really think it would directly have much use, but it's the kind on thing that someone would enjoy putting together. And it would require little individual effort but potentially have and impressive result, besides actually making an interesting, easy to use, and flexible map of that sort is the kind of thing that leads people to come up with new solutions.

And w/o internet, how will you find him on that map?
