Linksys PCM1000 PCMCIA Card (Realtek 8169) running slow

Hey there,

I know this topic is somehow washed-out, but I didn't find any information about this Card on the net... and Linksys seems not to support Linux in that case, at least there are no drivers available.

Since there is no description about the chipset or anything inside, i downloaded the windows drivers and found out it's a Realtek 8169 chipset. The card works on windows, with expected gigabit speeds, now when I use it on linux (r8169 module), it won't go over 5,4MB/s. Interesting value, right - but no clue why. Compiling with and without NAPI support doesn't make any difference, CPU consumption is very low in both cases.

ethtool tells me

it's actualy eth3, don't know why it's naming it eth2 there...

Maybe that's part of the problem?

Can't tell you much more - maybe it's just something with my PCMCIA interface/driver settings beeing too slow for some reason?

Maybe you've got some ideas, thanks in advance.

I just booted some live distro and tried it there, I get tranfer rates at about 20MB/s which is much more than on my local system, but both use the r8169 module

On the live system, mii-tool tells me "Operation not supported", on the local system I get "eth3: negotiated 100baseTx-FD flow-control, link ok".

So I remove the mii module, reloaded r8169 and re-inserted the card, mii-tool still reports the same and no changes to transfer speeds. C'mon people, no ideas?
