Hello gurus,

I am using dhcp server by dhcpd. My dhcp server is working fine.
I want to see the active list of clients served by my dhcp server. How can I see the active list of clients ?
Thanks in advance.

Hello,

Thank you very much for the quick reply, Yes, there is a lease file in var/lib/dhcpd
but in that file its shows the old clients also. So How could I recongnize that this is the active client without pinging.

Thank you

Regards
Mahesh

Hello,

Thanx, Yes, I can see the active clients by ARP. But in lease file if the lease time is over then also the client (i.e. expired clients) information has stored. I want to see the client and whose lease time has not been over and it is active.

Thank you

Regards
Mahesh

Hello,
Can anybody please tell me how to get the active lease list from the dhcp server ?
The dhcpd.leases file contents old lease information also. I need to see the lease list whose lease time has not been expired.

Thank you

Mahesh

DHCPStatus

Here is a tool call DHCPStatus I found that looks like it might do the trick.

Hello,

Thank you very much... I think this will do. If you have any idea about C or unix script then it will be better.

Thank you

Or try this...might be kinda redundant, but it helps me:

Code:
tail -f /var/state/dhcpd/dhcpd.leases
Well at least for Slackware that's my location.
Code:
tail -f
really helps for realtime viewing of txt files. Forget
Code:
cat
