PCI: Failed to allocate mem resource #6:10000@fe000000 for 0000:01:05.0

Hi,

I was trying to put a old PC into use. I installed the latest Fedora Code on the machine. After installation I inserted a new device on one of the PCI slots (Netgear WG311v2 wireless card) and I see the message as in the subject line pop up. I am attaching the Dmesg output. Can anyone explain whats happening and why I am seeting this error? The PC bots up normally after this error but the wireless network card hasnt been detected. I tried installing the driver for it but doesnt seem to help.

Any help would be appreciated.

Well, the device causing the error message actually seems to be seen by the OS as some sort of video device (Bus 01, Slot 05, Function 0).

Not sure I'm going to be able to help much because I don't do wireless in Fedora, but execute these two commands as root and post their results here so we can see if your wireless card is actually showing up at all.

lspci actually shows all the PCI cards. The video card seems to work fine even with this error message. I would like to know whats happening and why I get this error message while things seem to work just fine.

I was using the kernel that is installed by default when you install fedora. After installing self-compiled fedora kernel, I no longer get the above PCI error. I guess I will have to dig into the configuration difference and find out. Oh well, will dig into that next weekend.

Anyway, finally got my wireless card working fine with ndiswrapper and windows xp INF file. I had a spare netgear adapter but Netgear doesnt provide drivers for Linux. For using ndiswrapper, I had to compile my own fedora core kernel. I got it working, but, setting up wireless is so flaky with Linux.Everytime I have to reboot my machine, I need to spend a while setting up the wireless network.

I wonder if anyone has brought up Netgear wireless card WG311v2 up after every reboot without any hicups. acx drivers available for the card doesnt seem to work for me. Didnt dig deeper into that since ndiswrapper seemed to do the trick in the end. However, I would like to know if some folks out there are having a easytime with the same adapter I use.
