Unhappy Project made in Red Hat Enterprise 4 need to be able to run on Red Hat Enterprise 3

Hi!

I am very much a newbie on Linux, I am just testing a
project made in Windows because it needs to be able to
run on linux. The Linux I have is Red Hat Enterprise 4, but
I need to be able to see if the project can run on
Red Hat Enterprise 3 too, because some of the buyers use that.
Is there any way to use the version 4 to check if it
runs on version 3? Maybe run kDevelop 3 with the lib
from kDevelop 2 for exsample? Please explain so that I might
understand, I have never used Linux and I am not good
with command lines.

Thank you for reading, please help!

It is possible to use RHEL4 to mimic RHEL3. I think the main question is what margin of error is allowed. If you only need to adress a single library dependency, then the "contamination risk" seems small and you probably could get a way with pointing to it with LD_LIBRARY_PATH. If you need to make onehundred percent sure *everything* is RHEL3, then investing time in making sure your test environment is sterile seems a better choice. For that I would suggest installing RHEL3 as guest O.S. in Qemu, Xen, VMware or alike.

If this isn't what you're looking for maybe you should explain in detail what you have to check.
