Cannot boot FC5 after installing (permission denied)

Hi,

I installed Fedora Core 5 on my Compaq 6400R computer, and when I boot it up, it comes with this error:

checking filesystems
FSCK.ext3: permission denied while trying to open /dev/ida!c0d0p2

You must have r/w access to the filesystem or be root
( FAILED)
An error occured during the file system check
Dropping you to a shell; the system will reboot
When you leave the shell
Warning ---SELinux is active
Disabling security, enforcement for system recovery
Run 'setenforce 1' to reenable
Give root password for maintenance
( or type control-D to continue )

If I press contrl-D, it reboots the computer. I've reinstalled it at least 5 times. Does anyone have any suggestions or any idea on what to do? I'm not completely sure what this error means. I've installed Fedora 1-4 on this same computer with no problems.

Thank You,
rjswilson

Does device /dev/ida!c0d0p2 even exist? it looks like a really strange device name.

Anyhow, when Linux starts, all file systems marked for checking in /etc/fstab (by the flags at the end of each line) are checked. Set the flags for the strange device to "0 0", and reboot.

Thank you so much, everything workes now. I'm not sure where it got the "!" comes from, but i think it should be a slash.

I got hit by the same problem on my HP DL385. It's caused by selinux. I booted up from the installation CD using "linux rescue", edited /etc/sysconfig/selinux and disabled it. Rebooted and everything worked.
