Focus, Sloppy Focus, Autoraise or simply ClickToFocus?

Hello,

I am using CTWM, it is a great WM.

Do you prefer to use Focus, Sloppy Focus, Autoraise or simply ClickToFocus? Or maybe, there are other methods.

You can share your experiences on advantage/disavd. of these methods. Why you like one method in particularly?

I find click to focus annoying. Otherwise I find the other types of focus all more or less OK. I voted for sloppy focus.

I find click to focus annoying indeed. I find sloppy focus not easy to use if for instance you would like to close an application with key binding; not likely to work as expected.

I prefer click-to-focus because I don't like application windows doing anything unless I tell them to.

Nobody else obeys me . . . . .

I tend to bounce between "Follow focus + Autoraise" and "Sloppy Focus + Autoraise", no preference between the two. But I vastly prefer autoraise over any other method.

ctwm is cool, I used it a lot many years ago. I also noticed a new version was released, will need to give it a spin to see what changed

I have a feeling that "Follow focus + Autoraise" is less efficient and productive than clicktofocus. "Follow focus + Autoraise" is more complex to handle, since if you come across a win it will autoraise, and it can hinder seeing the lower one (win).

Most of the time my (virtual) desktops are filled with emacs and urxvt windows -- moving
between those is most convenient by just moving mouse (NO CLICK!).

So, any 'focus follows mouse' option is good.

The 'other' option in title (and my vote) is 'focus follows keypress' which I was using last on
Amiga desktop (qmouse sunkey option). This option would be useful in other desktop environments
than X11, where mouse focus may be too aggressive.

I like "click to focus" as I sometimes want to scroll a non-focused window without making it focused.

I absolutely hate Windows method of NOT being able to scroll a non-focused window (at least every version of Windows I have tried, I assume Windows 10 follows the same pattern).

I use KDE/Kwin and did try for a while "focus follows mouse" but in the end I went back to "click to focus" as it just suits me best.
