I want to create my own version of Ubuntu.

Hello, everyone.

I want to create my own version of Ubuntu. But I don't want to start from scratch, all I want it to be, is just UBUNTU, but with some changes:

-New boot-screen

-Different DE, I would like to replace Unity with Trinity.

-All Ubuntu logos and references that Canonical requires me to replace with my own: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DerivativeDistroHowto

-Different packages and software installed by default.

I've heard that people have made their own Ubuntu derivative by altering the Live CD, but Canonical does not have solid instructions on how to do it on their website.

I will appreciate any help.

Thanks.

Question

I see a netinst for ubuntu https://help.ubuntu.com/community/In...tion/MinimalCD
is nothing like for Debian https://www.debian.org/CD/netinst/
the Debian one starts out CLI (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Command-line_interface)
only then you may add or remove whatever.

You can install ubuntu or https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Lu...MinimalInstall
then remove or add whatever you want there too.

But, as it's based on Debian why not just it's netinst?

fromwin2lin, basically you already provided yourself with a useful link.
search some more, then start doing it.

the process is basically:

- tweak your existing ubuntu until youhave it the way you want it.
- use some tool (*) to create a new installable .iso from it.

(*) i think remastersys has been abandoned, then continued. there are one or two others; a search here on LQ should yield current results.
