Sid askin to remove openrc...

Erm, I think you ought just to run Sid if you are wanting to run Sid:

apt-cache policy openrc
openrc:
  Installed: (none)
  Candidate: 0.18.3-1
  Version table:
     0.18.3-1 500
        500 http://ftp.uk.debian.org/debian sid/main amd64 Packages

$ apt-cache policy openrc
openrc:
  Installed: 0.18.3-1
  Candidate: 0.18.3-1
  Version table:
 *** 0.18.3-1 500
        500 http://httpredir.debian.org/debian testing/main amd64 Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

It's up to you but I am running Sid on two machines and "apt-get dist-upgrade" almost all the time and that is the state of my systems which are running well.
Perhaps try LMDE or something?
