14.04 LTS and Left Handed?

My Multiple Sclerosis has made learn to use my left hand but when I use Settings Manager>Mouse>Left Hand, nothing changes. I need a work around, please.

My unit is an HP Slimline 400-224 with an AMD A400-5000, 1.5 gig Intigrated Processor with 6 gig of RAM.

Hope somebody has a work around and will share.

th1bill,

gconftool is installed as part of gconf2 in 14.04.

In Terminal.

For left-handed mouse:

Code:
gconftool -s /desktop/gnome/peripherals/mouse/left_handed -t bool true
For right-handed:

Code:
gconftool -s /desktop/gnome/peripherals/mouse/left_handed -t bool false
There is also a script suggested here:

There is, what seems to me, a simpler way. Create a file in your home directory called ".Xmodmap" containing the following:
Code:
pointer = 3 2 1
or just add the above to your currently existing .Xmodmap file.

Then run this at the start of your X session:
Code:
xmodmap /home/$USER/.Xmodmap
Thats all assuming that you have a three button mouse with a wheel.

I use a left handed mouse and the above does it for me.

I know I'm late getting back here but I do thank you gentlemen and this will do it. I'm in the process of dying from Agent Orange poisoning and some days I have a screw or two a bit loose. Thank you gents very much.
