Good to see Linux being used but sorry to see your flight was a sequence of crashes.

Personally i am just filled with confidence knowing that the military and weapons systems use red hat derivatives.

Not only Airbus uses Linux in their in-flight entertainment system. All aircrafts I have travelled in (MD11, B747, A-320, A-340, B-767) I have seen the Linux screen. I also know that the cabin control system for the MD11 runs Linux.

in one of the shots
the code was a I386 build

not a 586 or 686
but a rather old 386 CPU build from Mar 2009
with the LAST copyright date listed as 2002 on the software

Granted, the onboard entertainment system is not to be considered as a "critical" application

My guess is an embedded system. FAA,CAA,TSO certifications etc take time and money which includes software updates.

[QUOTE=speirs1;5331793]I might be blind but I don't see anything Red Hat in there?/QUOTE]Take a better look at the third screen-shot. Though I think the others give clues also.
