Lost capability of bookmarking.

I no longer have the capability of bookmarking a page in FireFox! Only saving a page in a folder!

This all started within a couple weeks of installing "Startpage".

I have no idea if that is the cause of the problem or not, but not being able to bookmark a page is a BIG problem for me!

Is this some new idea of the FireFox corporation or what!

What is going on?

If it is a new policy of theirs, what is the next best Browser?

What version of Firefox?

In Firefox 33.0.2 on Slackware --Current with the Startpage as the default search, I am able to bookmark pages by going to "Menu--Bookmarks-->Bookmark This Page." The Menu Bar needs to be enabled.

As an aside, I find the new little tablet style menu in the upper left corner which is slowly infecting applications to be--er--less than desirable. The one in Firefox is disorganized and confusing.

The next best browser, in my opinion is Seamonkey.
The best way to get Seamonkey, and get the latest Firefox, is to add the Ubuntuzilla ppa.
http://sourceforge.net/p/ubuntuzilla/wiki/Main_Page/

"the Ubuntuzilla project, hosts an APT repository with .deb repacks of the latest official release versions of Mozilla Firefox, Mozilla SeaMonkey, and Mozilla Thunderbird. "

sometimes some of the databases in ~/.mozilla/firefox/nnnnnnn.default/ get corrupted.
there was a simple trick to fix that, which i don't remember right now. a search at http://forums.mozillazine.org/ should provide answers.

or
click on the "firefox" icon on the top left

I'm running version 33 and automatically update whenever a new version is available, now I'm starting to wonder if FF is what I think it is!

Thanks John, I didn't know that! NOW, I can't seem to find a way to credit you with the correct answer. There used to be a simple "click" button!
