Fedora 20 VMware tools - vmware-user could not open proc/fs/vmblock/dev

Hello,

installed vmware tools on Fedora 20. Can not share folders or copy and paste. After what appears to be successful install try to start vmware-user and get the vmware-user could not open proc/fs/vmblock/dev error. Have tried to fix the issue but hit a brick wall.
