I have loaded LinuxMint17 to my Acer One Netbook and I cannot get internet going.
My netbook has a physical switch for internet connectivity but no dice here with LinuxMint17 nor could I get it to work with Ubuntu 14.03.
The netbook originally had Windows 7.
I am so new to Linux I cannot figure out how to get my output (inxi -F)from the netbook to the MAC Air to show on the forum.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Ray

Reason: do not know what questions to ask

Thanks, but how do I copy and paste using LinuxMint17?
Open the file in your text editor and copy the text. Hit reply on this thread and you'll see a "#" on the menu bar. Hit that and it will insert 2 [code] labels - paste the text between them...

I have no idea how a MAC works but "generally" an OS will choose the correct program by double clicking on the file. A file with a .txt extension is usually opened in a text editor. In Windows/Linux if you right click on a file it will generally pop up a menu that includes "open" or "open with".
I'm not trying to be insulting, but getting wireless working can be a challenge - do you have anyone that can give you a hand nearby?

NO, I think Linux folks are like Windows folks. I will not be posting anymore. Thanks for your help anyway....
Your choice, but many times to get wireless working you'll have to add drivers or make a bunch of changes in system config files and it gets pretty complex. Since you were having trouble even opening a .txt file or copying & pasting - I asked you if you had somebody local to give you a hand. Sorry you're offended but it's very tough to spell out each and every minute step of a complex process over an internet forum...
