What do I need to install Slackware 10.2?

Hi,

I'm tired of using Windows and just built a new sytem that I wan to install Slackware 10.2 (latest version I think) on. I'm not sure what I need to get started. I came across boot disks, root disks and iso files. What files do I need exactly. I just want a basic running system that I can practice writing programs on. Any help is appreciated!

Just download the two install ISOs. The first ISO is bootable. The boot disks are genrally for older systems that can't boot from CD-ROM or as emergency repair disks.

and don't forget to check the "md5sum" of the downloaded ISOs before writing them to cd. It checks whether the download file is downloaded properly or not.

O.K. I've downloaded the two installation iso files from the Slackware website using Bittorrent. There are three files in the first folder:

Slackware-10.2-install-d1 (rar file)
Slackware-10.2-install-d1.iso.asc
Slackware-10.2-install-d1.iso.md5

I've burned these to a disc, but the disc does not boot! I've also unzipped the first file first before burning, but no booting still!
Am I doing something wrong or am I missing another vital file?
I know it's probably something really simple that I'm not doing, but I still need help with it. Thanks!

all you need are the two iso files. Open the iso in a burning program (like nero) and it will create a cd from that image. The md5's are for verifying that all the data was downloaded.
