I use it and like it. Besides being a great app for the job of recording broadcasts, it's a great learning experience.
One of the more unusual reasons I like it is because if you build it from scratch, compiling everything yourself (not installing with pre-built packages), you learn a great deal about doing things in Linux on your own. You also learn a very valuable skill along the way - how to search out Linux help for some very specific problems. You will probably run into a few along the way!
I have been using mythtv for a while now and find it to be the best pvr suite for a number of reasons,
* Auto commercial skip
* More customizable features than any other suite I have used
* Ability for remote mythfrontend (I have mythfrontend on my laptop and wirelessly can access all my media and live tv with no performance issues. This is very nice especially for relaxing outside)
* And again, more customizable features than any other suite I have used
I only have 2 complaints about mythtv, no net radio (there is an unoffical plug in for this), and when I watch tv via my laptop, it would be nice if I could resize my frontend so that when I watch livetv it does not take up the full screen.
