Where did "Linux MZ" (which www.distrowatch.com seems to have not heard of) come from?

Welcome to LQ

Interesting, but what does that have to do with MZ.

It was an attempt at a joke.

http://engineering.tri-m.com/linux_OS/linuxMZ.htm

Another keyword DiskOnChip

in http://lists.infradead.org/pipermail...ly/010013.html
one reads
"Here's the story. I have a Tri-M TMZ104 with a 128MB DiskOnChip 2000.
I'm using their "Linux-MZ" distribution, but I need a kernel newer
than the 2.4.18 included with it. "

I suppose this is relevant to anybody looking at "onboard/embarqued linux"
http://www.linuxdevices.com

bigstorm, I hope you did not post this to attract our attention to this,
because now we know it exists

Hey Emmanuel_uk,

I got TMZ104 too, but the DiskOnChip that I have is only 48mb. The tri-m documentation is so minimal. I am looking for some more detailed documentation, since so many commands do not exist. Do you have any suggestion?

P.S. I'm really new to this thing...

bigstorm, welcome to LQ, (again).
I am newer at this than you are, and know nothing about linux devices.
Sorry I cannot help further. I just did some searches to see what your
thread was about.
You were "lucky/fortunate" you even had a moderator to look at you post :-)

You will learn quickly not to assume to much, and also to make your question
as precise as possible to help people helping you.
I do not have a TMZ104, but you have and should have told us straight away.
Anyway, you question was interesting. Here goes the help I can offer for now

Ok you want more doc...
Did you ask the manufacturer?
Did you google about linux devices?
What are you trying to achieve?

I do not even know what a TMZ104 is for (but I can guess)

google for linux mini distro like damn small linux, feather linux, puppy linux
http://www.linuxlinks.com/Distributi...Distributions/ for example
Once again these are alternatives, I do not know what you want to do,
nor what you can do... Surely there is quite a good doc in these distros

bigstorm are you completely new to linux? We can give you links to look at if so

since so many commands do not exist
Do you mean MZ does not come with standard linux commands?
What sort of doc do you need then? Doc on commands that do not exist?

Post a few more info, and we will see if your thread does not need to be moved
on another forum, maybe programming

[edit Linux embedded applications these are the keywords / field of interest, not embarqued linux, daft me ]
