cdparanoia - scsi emulation problem?
I have a cd-rw/dvd-rom on a laptop that works with scsi emulation just fine - plays dvds, audio cds, writes cds all with no problem using lots of different programs. However, ripperX will not open a cd for ripping, complaining that cdparanoia cannot open /dev/cdrom. /dev/cdrom points to /dev/sr0 and if I tell cdparanoia to find a cdrom drive it comes up with this:
Checking /dev/cdrom for cdrom...
Testing /dev/cdrom for cooked ioctl() interface
/dev/sr0 is not a cooked ioctl CDROM.
Testing /dev/cdrom for SCSI interface
No generic SCSI device found to match CDROM device /dev/sr0
I've heard of cooked dinners but cooked ioctls is beyond me. Can find nothing to help in man cdparanoia. Can anyone here put me right?
